We are excited to announce that Darton Academy has outperformed all other schools in Barnsley and is now the best performing school in the area. According to the Department for Education league tables published on 5^th December, Darton Academy has achieved a Progress 8 score of +0.37. This measures the progress students make between Key Stage 2 and the end of Key Stage 4. This is the highest score in the area!

The tables reveal Darton is one of only two secondary schools in Barnsley to achieve a score above 0. A total of 53% of students achieved a grade 5 or above in both English and maths in the GCSEs taken during the summer, which is 12% above the local authority average.

Progress is the measure that is most important to our academy community. A progress score of +0.37 demonstrates that students at Darton make over a third more progress than students with similar starting points. 

We regularly outperform most other schools in Barnsley, but to be top of the league table against some very strong competition makes me incredibly proud”.
